Deynis Figueroa had got up early to get some food for her children. She was in line with his sister and other women, waiting to buy two packages of flour and one of pasta. Suddenly, some National Guard officers arrived and took her sister away from the line. When Deynis complained, they took her to make her company. They were put in a convoy with other women. One lady argued that she could not go to prison because she had a child of months. One of the guards reacted by throwing her from the convoy. They did the same with everyone in the unit, including Deynis, who fainted from the moment she fell on the pavement. She regained consciousness in the hospital. Her sister was there too, bloodied and vomiting blood. The guards who threw them blocked the pass so no one could help them. Those who tried to approach were thrown shots. When they were finally rescued, the officials shouted: “Let those damn bachaqueras die.” The story of Deynis is part of our #MeCuadroConEllas campaign.
